The tenth round of the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season took place overnight from Saturday to Sunday on the streets of Long Beach. While the Cadillacs had achieved perfect qualifying by setting the three best times, Filipe Albuquerque, leading the championship with Wayne Taylor Racing, made an excellent start by getting rid of Denis Cameron and Loic duval from the first moments of the race. Felipe Nasr retained the lead during his first stint but Pipo Derani was surprised at the exit of the pits by a superb maneuver from Dane Cameron for the lead of the race. The American did not stay at the top of the standings for very long as he had to return to the pits to make way for Olivier Pla. The Auriverde duo then regained the lead of the race. The Frenchman clashed with a Corvette C8.R, itself battling with an AF Corse, and was forced to retire. Felipe Nasr and Pipo Derani won and took advantage of the fourth place of Filipe Albuquerque and Ricky Taylor to stay in the championship race.
