Montoya and Cameron make an impression at Laguna Seca

It's a victory that weighs heavily in terms of the title. By winning the Laguna Seca event last night, Juan Pablo Montoya and Dane Cameron (Acura ARX-05 n°6 – Acura Team Penske) achieved an excellent accounting operation in the Drivers' championship in IMSA, before the grand finale of Petit Le Mans next month.

After leading 75 of the 121 laps covered yesterday in California, Dane Cameron having taken the lead after the second round of stops, the tandem of Roger Penske's team won with almost 10″ ahead of the car- sister #7 of Ricky Taylor and Helio Castroneves. This is the seventh consecutive podium for Cameron – Montoya, who take a 12-point lead in the championship before Petit Le Mans over their main rivals Pipo Derani and Felipe Nasr.

The duettists of the No. 31 Cadillac DPi-VR – Action Express Racing complete the podium without having been able to aim for victory yesterday. Derani took the podium in the last quarter of an hour against the No. 10 – Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac DPi-VR of Jordan Taylor – Renger van der Zande, 4th at the checkered flag.

The best Mazda RT24-P, the #77 of Oliver Jarvis and Tristan Nunez, could not do better than 6th. Tristan Vautier and Misha Goikhberg (Cadillac DPi-VR n°85 – JDC-Miller) took 8th place.

In GTLM, Joey Hand and Dirk Müller win the #66 Ford GT ahead of the #8 BMW M24 – Team RLL of John Edwards and Jesse Krohn, when Jan Magnussen et Antonio Garcia complètent le podium avec la Corvette C7.R n°3. En terminant 7e de la catégorie, Earl Bamber et Laurens Vanthoor (Porsche 911 RSR n°912) augmentent leur avance sur leurs équipiers Patrick Pilet et Nick Tandy (Porsche 911 RSR n°911).

Favorites for victory in GTD, Bryan Sellers and Corey Lewis won with the No. 3 – Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT48 Evo.
