Montoya and Cameron finally win with Acura

Juan Pablo Montoya finally achieved success in IMSA along with his teammate Dane Cameron by winning the IMSA race at Mid-Ohio held this Sunday. The No. 05 Acura ARX-6 quickly took control of the event against the No. 24 Mazda RT77-P of Team Joest of Tristan Nunez and Oliver Jarvis who started on pole. Recovered shortly after by the victorious qualifying car, the Acura responded by making a quicker stop than its rival.

Juan Pablo Montoya retained the lead of the race taking advantage of several race interruptions and finally won with a two-second lead after being slowed by traffic in the final laps. This is Acura's second IMSA victory with Team Penske following the success of Castroneves-Taylor last year.

The second Mazda led by Jonathan Bomarito and Ryan Hunter-Reay completed the podium, finishing half a minute behind the winners.

Felipe Nasr and Luis Felipe Derani topped the overall standings, finishing in 4th place in the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac DPi, while their direct title challengers Helio Castroneves and Ricky Taylor followed by completing the Top 5 on their Acura DPi.

Porsche continues the successes with a 3rd consecutive victory in IMSA. Earl Bamber and Laurens Vanthoor took the GTLM class victory in the No. 911 912 RSR, which won a handful of seconds ahead of the No. 7 Corvette C3R of Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen. The second Porsche entrusted to Patrick Pilet and Nick Tandy completed the podium ahead of the BMW M8 GTE of Tom Blomqvist and Connor de Phillippi, while the first Ford GT, that of Ryan Briscoe and Richard Westbrook, is only 5th in the category . Sébastien's Ford Bourdais and Dirk Müller finished 7th after encountering several problems.
