Pagenaud stays on top

This is the second victory gleaned by Ferran’s crew.Pagenaud, after their success on the Long Beach circuit. Starting from pole, the Acura ARX-02a took its distance from the first kilometers thanks to the good relay from Gil de Ferran. Author of the best lap in the race, the Franco-Brazilian crew did not see their leadership called into question, leading the race from start to finish. They finished the Salt Lake City event more than a minute ahead of the Brabham/Sharp duo, championship leader. The two Acura crews maintain the top two spots in the ALMS standings, although Sharp and Brabham maintain a comfortable lead thanks to their performance at the 12 Hours of Sebring.

However, the Frenchman wanted to be modest after this victory. “ Gil did all the work in the first stint, I didn't have much to do. He gave me the car with a comfortable advance. I still attacked as if I had a car behind me, and our Acura reacted well. The strategy was good, the tires behaved well. To be honest, there is nothing to say. » And the Frenchman places this victory in context, after his successes at Long Beach (ALMS) and the 1000 km of Spa (LMS): “ This gives me a third consecutive victory. We must try to keep this series going. » There is no doubt that with such races, Simon Pagenaud?s appetite for victory continues to grow.
