Pascal Wehrlein will make his big debut in Endurance. The reigning champion of the Formula E will be at the start of the 24 Hours of Daytona on January 25. The German will drive in the GTP category since he will be at the wheel of a Porsche 963, that of JDC-Miller MotorSports. He will be associated in the yellow prototype with Tijmen van der Helm and Bryce Aron.
« I always wanted to drive prototypes, it's one of my goals as a racing driver, says the reigning Formula E world champion. Today I have the opportunity to prove myself in this area as well. I am very happy about it! The test with JDC-Miller MotorSports in mid-November went well. The Porsche 963 reminded me of the cars of DTM of my time – I felt comfortable. I am currently recovering from my accident in São Paulo (where he ended up on his roof during the first round of the 2024-2025 Formula E season. Ed.). But I want to get back to cruising speed from January.
Wehrlein has already tested the Porsche 963 twice: at Daytona in November and at Sebring in October 2022. His Formula E teammate António Félix da Costa will also be on track at the Florida classic, as the Portuguese will be racing in LM P2 with Inter Europol Competition. With these two confirmations, the Stuttgart firm seems to have taken a step back in its policy of banning FE-Endurance doubles for its factory drivers, even if it is only for one race.
