Peugeot wins at Petit Le Mans

In addition to 24 Hours of Le Mans 2010, dramas for Peugeot , the 908 HDi FAP has had an almost perfect run in recent months, with victories at Sebring, Spa, Silverstone and Petit Le Mans. Already victorious last season at the end of a truncated race, the Lion firm repeated its performance this year, completing the 1000 Miles of the Road Atlanta race in 9h12. With this second success in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, Peugeot is approaching the title in this new competition, which will end at the end of October in Zhuhai.

Peugeot quickly took the lead, first through the No. 908 07 of Gené-Wurz-Davidson, while Franck Montagny (No. 908 08) had to fight against Allan McNish (Audi R15 TDI). n°7) for second place. Due to the different strategies on the two cars, it was the #908 08 from Montagny-Lamy-Sarrazin which took the lead after 20 minutes of racing. It was before the seventh hour of the race that the final result took shape, the No. 7 Audi making an unscheduled stop allowing the two Peugeots to move to the front before going for a new double during the 1000 Miles of Petit Le Mans.

« Our strategy was very good, welcomed Bruno Famin, technical director, after the race. We used our two cars to protect ourselves from our rivals. We didn't encounter any technical problems, with the exception of a bit of damaged bodywork following some rather manly contact. The entire team performed flawlessly and the drivers completed a perfect race in heavy traffic. Our ILMC objective has not yet been achieved but we are getting closer. All it takes is a 908 arriving in Zhuhai to be champions. »

« I couldn't ask for a better way to celebrate my last race behind the wheel of the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP! », rejoiced Pedro Lamy, teammate of Stéphane Sarrazin and Franck Montagny. “ This is a very good double for the team, and it is also my second victory with Peugeot this year after the one won at Spa. It was important not to make any mistakes because the race started very quickly. Despite the high number of interruptions under safety car, and the traffic, my stint went very well, and Peugeot Sport was admirable in terms of strategy »

In addition, the race allowed simon pagenaud and David Brabham to win the American Le Mans Series title, since the 1000 Miles of Petit Le Mans was the last race on the calendar of the 2010 ALMS season. Already ALMS champion last year, David Brabham once again won the supreme prize with the Highcroft team, this time in the company of Frenchman Simon Pagenaud, second last year with Ferran Motorsports.
