Pipo Derani at Action Express in 2019

Tequila Patron having decided to stop its involvement in IMSA, the future of Extreme Speed Motorsport is currently up in the air. It was therefore a safe bet that one of the championship's big names would try to secure the services of young Luis-Felipe Derani, who has partly revealed himself across the Atlantic.

It will ultimately be Action Express Racing, a team that can boast three victories at the 24 Hours of Daytona (the last one last January) and one at the 12 Hours of Sebring, without forgetting three IMSA titles. Despite the presence at his side of often less speedy drivers, Derani still managed to offer ESM one success at the 24 Hours of Daytona and two at the 12 Hours of Sebring, including the 2018 edition.

The 24-year-old Brazilian will be racing in the No. 31 Cadillac DPi-VR alongside his compatriot Felipe Nasr, the two men being joined in Endurance Cup by Eric Curran, current holder and titled in 2016. “ I am delighted, said the person concerned. Having ridden against them, I know firsthand how talented this team is. My goal being to fight for the IMSA title, this is a great opportunity. » The Auriverde duo promises to be hard to follow.

On the sister car, number 5, we will always find Filipe Albuquerque and Joao Barbosa. The two Portuguese will be supported at the 24 Hours of Daytona by Christian Fittipaldi, who will hang up his helmet after the arrival of the double clock driver from Florida to concentrate on his role as sporting director within the team.
