Porsche will enter two 911 RSRs in USCC

After the presentation of calendar for the first season of the United SportsCar Championship dévoilé hier soir, Porsche annonce son engagement de manière officielle dans la future discipline qui réunira l’ALMS et le Grand-Am à partir de l’an prochain en indiquant que la marque engagerait deux 911 RSR, une voiture avec laquelle le constructeur allemand a signé le doublé en GTE Pro aux dernières 24 Hours of Le Mans. The team will be entered under the name Porsche North America, whose factory is located in the southern suburbs of Los Angeles, California. The races will be contested in cooperation with the Core Autosport team. If the crews are unknown at the moment, Porsche has nevertheless clarified that the crews will be trained by its official drivers.

“North America is Porsche’s largest market for passenger cars and racing cars”, explained Porsche Motorsport Director Hartmut Kristen. “For this reason, we have decided to enter the United SportsCar Championship through a comprehensive program, similar to our commitment in WEC this year with Porsche AG Team Manthey. The fact that there is now a top level competition in America that we can race in made the decision easier to send a team from Weissach to race for the first time in America. »

The 2014 season will thus mark a real commitment from Porsche in Endurance since the manufacturer from across the Rhine will also arrive in the premier category of the WEC with the Porsche LMP1 who will aim for a 17th victory for the brand at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
