Porsche returns to winning ways at Daytona! The German manufacturer had not won the general classification since 2003 and this Sunday took its 19th victory, improving its own record. It is also the first victory for a Roger Penske team since 1969 and that of Mark Donohue and Chuck Parsons in a Roger Penske Sunoco Racing Lola T70-Chevrolet.

This weekend, it was Dane Cameron, Matt Campbell, Josef Newgarden and Felipe Nasr who triumphed at the wheel of the #963 Porsche Penske Motorsport 7. The Brazilian had to resist pressure from Tom Blomqvist at the end of the race. The Briton, a double champion with Acura, had managed to take the lead 1 hour and 20 minutes from the end and seemed to be heading straight for a third consecutive victory on the Florida double-lap. The fire that broke out on the #3 Lexus RC F GT12 driven by Parker Thompson decided otherwise.

During the Full Course Yellow following this situation, the #7 Porsche spent less time in the pits and came out in first position. While a breathtaking final fight loomed between Nasr and Blomqvist for the last half hour, with Louis Delétraz (Acura no. 40) and Mathieu Jaminet (Porsche no. 6) in ambush, the son of Stig never succeeded to get close enough to the former pilot of Formula 1 to hope for a final blow.

Felipe Nasr thus crossed the finish line as winner, a little more than two seconds ahead of Blomqvist. The No. 40 Acura of Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti completes the podium for this 62nd edition of the 24 Hours of Daytona with Louis Delétraz, Jordan Taylor, Colton Herta and Jenson Button.

Another legendary manufacturer won this Sunday with Ferrari in GT3. The No. 62 from Risi Competizione crossed the finish line victoriously with Daniel Serra. The Brazilian was accompanied by Davide Rigon, Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado. The quartet beat the AO Racing Porsche “Rexy”, which started from pole position, and its trio Seb Priaulx, Laurin Heinrich and Michael Christensen. Third place goes to the No. 1 Paul Miller Racing BMW, co-driven by Bryan Sellers, Madison Snow, Neil Verhagen and Sheldon van der Linde.

In LM P2, victory went to the No. 07 Era Motorsport Oreca 18 of the quartet Ryan Dalziel, Dwight Merriman, Connor Zilisch and Christian Rasmussen. Crowdstrike Racing by APR takes second place with George Kurtz, Colin Braun, Toby Sowery and Malthe Jakobsen. Felipe Massa finished on the podium in 3rd position with Team Riley, accompanied by Gar Robinson, Felipe Fraga and Josh Burdon.

Finally, in GTD, it is the Mercedes AMG GT3 n°57 from Winward Racing which won with Russell Ward, Daniel Morad, Phillip Elis and Indy Dontje. The Iron Dames with Dorian Pin, Sarah Bovy, Michelle Gatting and Rahel Frey finished in sixth place.
