While the 2026 Daytona 24 Hours featured only two women on the starting grid – Lilou Wadoux and Sheena Monk – there were more in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. Among them was Aurora Straus. An interview follows.

The female presence on the starting grid of the biggest race of the North American championship season unfortunately continues to decline. With the absence this year of the Iron Dames, Tatiana Calderón, and Katherine Legge, whom we've seen in action on the Florida track in recent years, only two female riders (compared to seven last year) remained to take the start on January 24th: the Frenchwoman Lilou Wadoux on the Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo #21 and American Sheena Monk, teammate of Romain Grosjean on the #16 Ford Mustang GT3 of Myers Riley Motorsports.
