PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports chooses Gabriel Aubry

Gabriel Aubry will diversify his program in 2019. In addition to competing in the Super Season of WEC where he leads the LMP2 Championship with Jackie Chan DC Racing, the 20-year-old Frenchman will participate in theIMSA by joining the ranks of PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports where he will team up with Matt McMurry, the youngest entry in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“I am delighted to start a new adventure in the USA and to join PR1, commented Gabriel Aubry. I can't wait to discover this new environment. The championship will take us to some splendid tracks that I will have to learn quickly. I'm also happy to do this program on an Oreca 07 LMP2, the same car I'm competing in the WEC with. I've been training since my last race in Shanghai (November 18) and I can't wait to put the helmet back on at Daytona (end of January). »

PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports will no longer be able to aim for the general classification title, the LMP2 category having been separated from the DPi for the 2019 season.

“I support the choice of having made separate categories because it is much simpler to operate with a Pro-Am crew, added Ray Mathiasen, Team Principal of the team of the same name. I hope we will quickly have news on those entered in the category. The more, the better. In any case, we will be there for the full season, no matter the number. »
