Rahal and BMW aim for victory

Last year, Rahal Letterman Racing surprised everyone by entering two BMW GT2s in American Le Mans Series. And the surprise was even greater when the Germans won, to everyone's surprise, a category victory at Road America under the nose and beard of Ferrari et Porsche, who have monopolized the podiums for many years. At the dawn of a new season with Munich manufacturer Bobby Rahal, the team's owner, is confident and hopes to be able to repeat the feat of 2009 this weekend at Sebring for the 12H. With two M3s entrusted to the trios Joey Hand – Dirk Müller – Andy Priaulx and Bill Auberlen – Dirk Werner – Tommy Milner, the dream is possible.

“I think we are competitive, declares the winner of the 1987 edition of the Florida classic to the official ALMS website. The category promises to be extraordinarily tough. We are not the main category but certainly the one where the competition is the tightest. We had encouraging winter testing, and I think we are better prepared than a year ago. But at Sebring it's not all up to you. You can run the perfect race but a competitor making a mistake can take you away with them. It is a very long and very difficult ordeal. Just arriving is already a victory in itself. »

Across the Atlantic, the Prototype categories are almost deserted. It is therefore the GTs who put on the show. And given what the last rounds of the 2009 ALMS have in store for us, this 2010 season promises to be very attractive with Corvettes and BMWs who do not intend to let Ferrari and Porsche share the laurels. On the Bobby Rahal side, we do not hesitate to display high ambitions - but fully justified given the progression of the M3s last year.
