Romain Dumas in ALMS with Oreca

Romain Dumas, pilote officiel Porsche, va revenir s?installer au volant d?un prototype LMP1. Après le pilotage de l?Audi R15 TDi aux 24 Hours of Le Mans, it is in the seat of the Oreca 01 that the Cévenol driver will measure himself against the Peugeot HDi FAP, which will participate, like the Audi R15, in the Petit Le Mans event.

Engaged this season in Grand Am, Romain Dumas is delighted to be able to participate in the Road Atlanta race. “ When he (Hugues de Chaunac, editor's note) told me that I had the opportunity to return to the ALMS, at the wheel of a very good LMP1, I did not hesitate for a second, Dumas explains.. All the ingredients were there, especially since I love Petit Le Mans! »

The driver from Alès recognizes that discussions with the Var team have been underway for several seasons, adding that the challenge is significant. “ Oreca is a team that gives itself the means to achieve its ambitions, as their presence across the Atlantic attests. It is already a reference in Europe and the team will now go up against the Americans. »

Romain Dumas will therefore come to support Olivier Panis and Nicolas lapierre, while Soheil Ayari was the third driver at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this season. Hugues de Chaunac, boss of the Oreca team, welcomes this choice. “ Romain presents the qualities we were looking for, he is fast and combative, values common to all our drivers. This event will be a great discovery for the whole team and it is a plus to be able to count on someone who already knows the place, who is used to American racing. »

Oreca also announces that it will participate in the private tests at Petit Le Mans on September 19 and 20, one week before competing in the race alongside Audi, Peugeot and Acura. Olivier Panis and Nicolas Lapierre will be at the wheel on Saturday, while Romain Dumas will join them on Sunday, after the Tooele Grand Am event.
