Sebring: Aston Martin satisfied

Aston Martin did not have a very exciting race in the fight for the podium, due to the very small number of competitors in LMP1. From the first rounds, the two Peugeot 908 and the Lola-Judd Drayson driven by Emanuele Pirro took off. The three cars, which started at a very high pace, were initially unattainable for the 007.

The Lola-Aston Martin was then able to benefit from the drop in pace of the Lola Drayson, first when Jonny Cocker took the wheel, then when Lord Drayson took the wheel. A few long runs through the pits ended Drayson Racing's podium hopes, with Aston Martin reclaiming third place. Far from the Peugeot 908, it was enough for Stefan Mücke, Adrian Fernandez and Harold Primat to lead the No. 007 to safety. The trio made no mistakes and the car went the distance.

« I am very happy, says George Howard-Chappell, team principal. This is the best result we could have achieved, with all the leading cars being reliable. We wanted to be the fastest gas car at Sebring and this is great preparation for Le Mans. We had a flawless journey without having the slightest problem. Once again the Michelin tires have been fantastic, so we are totally satisfied. »

For his first race with Aston Martin, Adrian Fernandez, 2009 ALMS champion (Acura LMP2), is very satisfied with his debut in LMP1. “ It was a fantastic race for the team and a great start to my first event with Aston Martin. The team and the other drivers did a superb job, despite a very difficult race. This bodes well for the future because if the car can last 12 hours at Sebring, then things look good for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. »
