Sebring – H+6: Nothing is decided at mid-race

The first six hours of the 12 Hours of Sebring, second round of theIMSA SportsCar Championship, were very lively. The #2 Nissan Onroak DPi, second on the starting grid, only completed one lap after a slight contact between Olivier Pla and pole sitter Tristan Vautier (Cadillac DPi VR #90) got the better of the Toulouse mount. A few laps later, the Ferrari 488 GT3 n°64 ended up on the roof after Frank Montecalvo was unable to avoid the sinking n°217 Ligier JS P52.

A flying tent, a spin by Alex Brundle (Ligier JS P217 no. 32) and even debris caused the other interruptions to a race punctuated by numerous punctures.

Midway through the race, the event was again under yellow flag after a Lexus RC F GT3 had to deal with a stubborn front hood and then Ricky Taylor had to abandon his No. 05 Acura ARX-7 at the edge of the road. track, while he was in second position. The reins of the race are still in the hands of Pipo Derani (Nissan Onroak DPi n°22), who shares the wheel with Nicolas lapierre and Johannes van Overbeek. Followed by the No. 24 Mazda RT55-P of Spencer Pigot and the No. 05 Acura ARX-6 of Juan Pablo Montoya. Nine cars are still on the leader's lap. In the clan of tenors, apart from the No. 2 Nissan Onroak, the No. 77 Mazda also said goodbye to its chances of victory.

In GTLM, the fight is undecided, even if the #8 BMW M25 GTLM of Connor de Phillippi seems very lively. For the moment it is ahead of the No. 488 Ferrari 62 GTE of Risi Competizione and both Porsche Official 911 RSR. Six cars are still on the same lap, while the #7 Corvette C3.R, the #66 Ford GT and the #8 BMW M24 GTLM can no longer hope for anything.

In GTD, the top five is formed by the Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°33, the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 n°48, the Ferrari 488 GT3 n°63 and the two Acura NSX GT3s from Michael Shank Racing.
