Tom Blomqvist is building on his momentum from last season. Key element of the title last season with Meyer Shank Racing, the British-Swede signed an authoritative pole position in the very last moments of the session in 1:34.031.
« It was a little wild, reacted the first pole sitter of the GTP era. I knew I had a good car, but I had no reference point and had to improvise a bit [with time for a single flying lap after a mid-session red flag caused by the exit track by Nick Tandy. Editor’s note]. I knew I had the car to do it, but the tires weren't even up to temperature. I just had to lick the stamp and send it. Meyer Shank Racing, Acura, HPD, Oreca, everyone built a fantastic car. It's really promising for next weekend, but there are 24 hours of racing before we can set a goal of being here for another year. I had a lot of confidence here after last year, and the team put a lot of faith in me. »
