A qualifying race for the 24 Hours of Daytona

We will no longer talk about qualifications, but about qualifying race for 24 Hours of Daytona, which will open the 2021 season ofIMSA next January 30 and 31.

The American organizers have indeed announced that a 100-minute qualifying race will take place on January 24 as part of the Roar Before the Rolex 24, a traditional full-scale test session before the double tour of the clock in Florida, and the result of which will be used to determine the starting grid for the 24 Hours.

Two drivers will be lined up at the wheel of each car, with the winning crew receiving the privilege of opening the track in each category.

The starting grid for this qualifying race will be determined by a 15′ qualification on Saturday January 23, with only the drivers racing the following day. A 20′ warm-up will be set up before the race on Sunday.

Note that this qualifying race will bring championship points according to the new system put in place next year, with 35 points for victory (equivalent to a pole in a traditional race), 32 for second…
