A second Oreca for Dragonspeed at the 24 2019h of Daytona

Dragonspeed will not arrive at the 24 Hours of Daytona (Florida, January 26-27) to make up the numbers. Two months after announcing the arrival of the Lapierre-Hedman-Hanley trio during the opening round of Imsa in 2019, the American team confirmed that a second Oreca 07 with a Gibson engine would be entered.

Two drivers have already secured their place in the cockpit of the LM P2 prototype. This is Venezuelan Pastor Maldonado and the Mexican Roberto Gonzalez. These two Hispanics are well known in the paddocks of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) because they are already competing with Dragonspeed in the LM P2 category.

After the 6 Hours of Shanghai (China), the Maldonado-Gonzalez duo is in fourth place in the LM P2 general classification, notably with two poles. Roberto Gonzalez competed in his first 24 Hours of Daytona in 2018 but retired after a spin after the 14th hour of the race. Pastor Maldonado, on the other hand, has never set foot on the Florida circuit.
