United SportsCar Championship – 2014 calendar revealed

THEIMSA took advantage of the penultimate round of the American Le Mans Series, which takes place tomorrow at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, to unveil the 2014 USCC schedule. As a reminder, the United SportsCar Championship is the new North American endurance championship resulting from the merger of the ALMS and Grand-Am.

Twelve rounds are on the program (11 for the premier category, not all classes being admitted to all events), with debuts scheduled, unsurprisingly, for the 52nd edition of the 24 Hours of Daytona (January 25-26). ), and a closing round planned for Petit Le Mans, on the Road Atlanta circuit, the weekend of October 4.

“We have created a first-class calendar for motorsport fans, bringing our new championship to the most famous circuits in North America, welcomes Ed Bennet, President and CEO of IMSA. If many sites were interested for 2014, we took into consideration those which were part of either the ALMS or the Grand-Am in 2013. This seemed more loyal to our partner tracks, who gave their full support to both series. The first season of the Tudor United SportsCar Championship will offer legendary tracks with a very rich history. We are very proud of these 12 tracks which were selected for the inaugural season. »

Of the 12 tracks elected, four were part of the 2013 ALMS this year, four of the Grand-Am, and four hosted the two championships. Note that two winter testing sessions will be organized. The first will be held at Sebring on November 16-17, and the second at Daytona on November 19-20.
