USC – 12 Hours of Sebring H+6 – Extreme Speed in the lead

It seems that the 12 Hours of Sebring does not really want to start. After 6 hours of racing, Sebring looks like an elimination race as there were so many exits (notably in GTLM and PC with the red flag caused by the crash of David Ostella on the Performance Tech Motorsport ORECA FLM09) or mechanical problems. This is particularly the case in GTLM, where the big favorites have all gone through various avatars. The most serious of them, the exit of Matteo Malucelli on the Ferrari of Risi Competizione in turn n°1. If the 458 Italia was already badly damaged on the left side in this off-road excursion, Malucelli tried to restart and created a collapse at the exit of the first turn from which the Porsche n°30 of the NGT which hit the Ferrari which was traveling at very low speed. In the confusion, the No. 4 BMW Z56 of Team RLL was also hit on the left front. Previously, the official Corvette C7.R No. 3 of Corvette Racing had experienced problems at the front of the car, and the Porsche 911 RSR of Porsche North America No. 911 in which Patrick Pilet is entered, was unable to avoid a PC in distress and had been forced to return to the pits to repair.

The Prototypes were not spared. If the Corvette DPs of Action Express Racing and the Riley-Fords of Ganassi exchanged the leadership of the race from the start, Muscle Milk Racing experienced transmission problems on the ORECA-Nissan of Luhr-Graf- Mardenborough. Another misfortune for the Spirit of Daytona's Corvette DP with a faulty accelerator sensor.

So much so that after 6 hours of racing, and after the interruption still in progress due to Alex Tagliani's crash, it is the HPD ARX-03b n°1 of Extreme Speed Motorsport driven by Ryan Dalziel which is ahead of the Corvette DP of Sébastien Bourdais, author of the pole and a magnificent maneuver during one of the many restarts. OAK Racing is 3rd with its Morgan-Nissan in the hands of Alex Brundle ahead of the no. 02 Ganassi Riley-Ford of Tony Kanaan and simon pagenaud on the second HPD ARX-03b of the Extreme Speed Motorsport 5th.

In GTLM, after the various adventures that punctuated the category, it is the No. 911 Porsche 912 RSR from Porsche North America driven by Jörg Bergmeister which is in the lead. Patrick Pilet in the sister car is 40th. In PC, Core Autosport dominates with Colin Braun, while in GTD, it is the Ferrari 458 Italia of Scuderia Corse driven by Jeff Westphal which is in the lead. The Deltawing is 47th.
