USC – Extreme Speed Motorsports wins at Laguna Seca

The Monterey Grand Prix held at Laguna Seca (California) offered two events separating the PC/GTD from the P2/GTLM. After starting from pole in the main race, the HPD ARX-03b n°2 of Johannes van Overbeek and Ed Brown took victory after a strong comeback from van Overbeek who finally won with just five seconds to spare. ahead of the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP of Jordan and Richie Taylor, thus signing the first P2 success in USC. The podium is completed by the Chip Ganassi Racing Riley-Ford of Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas.

Jan Magnussen quickly took a nice lead in the GTLM category behind the wheel of the Corvette C7R that he shares with Antonio Garcia. The #3 Chevrolet won ahead of the BMW Z4 GTE of Andy Priaulx and Bill Auberlen and the Ferrari of Risi Competizione led by Giancarlo Fisichella and Pierre Kaffer.

The event reserved for PC/GTD saw the victory of Starworks Motorsport with the No. 8 of Renger van der Zande and Mirco Schultis who crossed the finish line with a dozen seconds ahead of the No. 25 of Luiz Diaz and Sean Rayhall. The latter perhaps missed a great opportunity to win after spinning a few laps from the finish, but he was still able to maintain a few seconds ahead of the n°09. RSR Racing driven by Duncan Ende and Bruno Junqueira who completed the podium.
