USC – Flying Lizard prepared its rookies for Daytona

The Flying Lizard's No. 8 Audi R45 LMS ultra did not set the best GTD time in the Roar before the 24 of Daytona (Florida), the American double clock tests contested from January 9 to 11, but the US team chained the laps in order to prepare its crew for the race. These tests were particularly important for the Japanese Tomonobu Fujii and Satoshi Hoshino who will participate for the first time in this race on January 24 and 25.

“I'm used to this car with the Super GT and the Audi R8 LMS ultra was fantastic. “It’s fast, it brakes well and it handles well.”, declared Tomonobu Fujii after the tests. “This is my first time racing in the USA and it’s a real pleasure to be at the Daytona International Speedway. I'm glad I was able to ride in the dry and wet because it allows me to be better prepared for what may happen during the race. I have already competed in 24 hour races in Japan and Dubai and I am looking forward to building on my experience. »

Markus Winkelhock is also confident for the 24 Hours of Daytona, even if the 2012 FIA GT1 champion is the spearhead of the crew. “I am delighted with these tests. I felt comfortable behind the wheel and I think we have a good crew for the race. I have competed in 24-hour races seven times with the Audi R8 LMS and have never experienced a technical problem. I believe that this way we will have a reliable car. We have a good chance of finishing on the top step of the podium, that's our goal after taking second place last year. »
