Mazda has confirmed the return of James Hinchcliffe at the 24 Hours of Daytona (Florida) January 24 and 25 on the Skyactiv-D n°70 from Speedsource. The new driver of Schmidt Peterson Motorsports in IndyCar will thus join Tristan Nunez, Jonathan Bomarito and Sylvain Tremblay, the latter having already been his teammate last year on the same mount (abandonment due to mechanical problem).
James Hinchcliffe is a natural choice for Mazda who has followed him for several years. “James is a superb example of what Mazda’s driver development program can do”, underlined John Doonan, Mazda sporting director. “I have known him for many years, from when he started his rise in the Mazda Road to Indy until he became an IndyCar winner. »
Mazda will once again field two prototypes in the American double round with the No. 07 of Sylvain Tremblay, Tom Long, Joel Miller and Ben Devlin.
