USC – The Balance of GT Performance at Daytona

IMSA, the structure that runs the USC, published the provisional Balance of Performance concerning GTLM and GTD for the 24 Hours of Daytona (Florida) held on January 24 and 25. Each car will have specific features in order to obtain consistent performance, but most GTLMs will receive a power gain. The BOP will be applied from the Roar Before the Rolex 24, the tests for the race held from January 9 to 11.

The GTLM BOP

The Aston Martin Vantage GTE will see their weight increase by 25kg but they will notably have an air intake flange widened by 0,6mm and will be authorized to have the specific splitter at Le Mans.

The Ferrari 458 Italia will have a flange widened by 0,3mm and may have a rear wing lowered by 5cm.

The BMW Z4 GTE will gain 25kg and have a 0,3mm wider flange. Same thing for the Corvette C7R except a flange widened by 0,6mm.

After the category victory at Daytona of the No. 911 with Patrick Pilet, Nick Tandy and Richard Lietz, the Porsche 911 RSR will be the only ones to be penalized with a flange reduced by 0,3mm. They will still gain 5kg.

The GTD BOP

The victory in GTD at the Florida double round of the No. 555 Level 5 Motorsports Ferrari with Scott Tucker, Bill Sweedler, Townsend Bell, Jeff Segal and Alessandro Pier Guidi did not penalize the F458 Italia GT3. The latter will lose 15kg and see their maximum speed increase by 100 rpm. On the other hand, the chassis must be FIA ​​GT3 approved.

Weight BMW Z4 GT3 will be reduced by 50kg compared to this season. THE Vantage V12 GT3 will be penalized by 9kg. THE Audi R8 LMS ultra will see their flange increase by 5,7mm. THE Viper GT3-R and Porsche 911 GT America will only have slight modifications.
