USC – The Balance of Performance modified before Sebring

While the second race of the USC (United SportsCar Championship) 2014 will take place at Sebring in Florida from March 12 to 15, the technical managers of the new American championship will be working on a modification of the Balance of Performance (BoP). According to Scot Elkins, in charge of technical regulations and vice-president of theIMSA, the DP (Daytona Prototype) categories and cars based on LMP2 will be affected since they will benefit from an aerodynamic package offering more downforce than the package used at Daytona during the 24h.

“We will try to get a result before the Sebring test so that everyone can test before the race. » Elkins tells Sportscar365.com. “In an ideal world we would like to be able to put the BoP on before testing and keep it on during the race. The GT Daytona and GT categories Le Mans are apart because we don't have a low downforce package on these cars. We will see, but we are not going to define a new aerodynamic package as we will for the Prototypes. »

The new features for this BoP are expected for the first pre-Sebring tests which will take place on February 20 and 21.
