USC – ACO and IMSA extend their agreement

The Automobile Club de l'Ouest and the International Motor Sports Association (organizer of the USC) announced the extension of their agreement for the next six years just before the start of the 12 Hours of Sebring (Florida) this afternoon. noon. This agreement will be valid until the end of the 2020 season.

USC will adapt to the new regulations in 2017 for LMP2, which will only have one engine, against the Daytona Prototypes. The GTs Le Mans will have their regulations adjusted in 2016. The GT Daytona will be replaced the same year by a category corresponding to the future FIA ​​GT3 regulations.

“This partnership will make it easier for top teams to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Prototype and GT teams will be able to join us for marquee events such as the 24 Hours of Daytona or the 12 Hours of Sebring”, underlined Jim France, the President of theIMSA.

“It was essential for the ACO to count on this strategic alliance to launch the harmonization of LMP2 and GTLM in order to guarantee long-term visibility for the endurance teams”, specified Pierre Fillon, President of the ACO.
