USC – Michael Shank Racing on its momentum at Sebring?

With its Ligier JS P2 with Honda engine which this season replaces the venerable Riley-Ford used by the team for many years, the Michael Shank Racing had made a strong impression on Daytona last January, notably winning pole position in the Florida double round, the opening round of the 2015 United Sportscar Championship.

If the Onroak prototype finally finished 5th in its category, following the reclassification of the Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP, the performance reassured owner Mike Shank. “We even set the fastest lap in the race. This shows that there is a lot of potential. We just have to turn this potential into results. The more we are used to the car and the more we learn about it, the better we will be. »

Mike Shank is also eager to return to Sebring, a meeting which proved difficult for his team in 2014. “With the change from the Riley to the 2014 configuration, with the brakes, or even the integration of the turbo engine with Ford, it was very difficult, and it cost us time. We weren't as competitive as hoped. This year with the P2 car we think we are really strong there. »

The 12 Hours of Sebring, which will also constitute the second round of the North American Endurance Cup, will compete on March 21.
