USC – Oliver Gavin optimistic for the race

On Chevrolet Corvette C7.R n°4 where he is aligned alongside the American Tommy milner and French simon pagenaud, Oliver Gavin was the fastest in GTLM during the qualifying session on Thursday, ahead of the Ferrari 458 Italia n°51 by Gianmaria Bruni by more than three tenths.

“We didn't think we had the overall pace to win pole, admits the Briton. I think it was just a perfect qualifying session. I came out right behind Jan (Magnussen, entered in the No. 3 Corvette, with Antonio Garcia and Ryan Briscoe, Editor's note), and everything synchronized well: tire pressure, temperatures. I think our car was a little better than Jan's. But I have to thank him, because he helped me a lot on several parts of the lap, to get this pole. We are optimistic for the race. »

Gavin also gave Corvette Racing the first pole position since 2000. The 24 Hours of Daytona will begin this evening at 20:10 p.m. French time on the Florida track.
