USC – When Endurance follows in the footsteps of IndyCar

During the two appearances of American endurance in Grand-Am in 2012 and 2013, the drivers used the 4,078 km circuit. This season, United Sportscar Championship competitors will use the 3,910 km circuit used by theIndyCar during the Grand Prix of Indianapolis, won by the Frenchman simon pagenaud. With its 14 turns, it is already delighting the drivers.

“From what I saw in May in IndyCar, I think it will be interesting,
explains Scott Pruett, entered in the No. 01 Riley-Ford DP of Team Ganassi. There are more overtaking zones and they have completely resurfaced the track. » For Christian Fittipaldi and Joao Barbosa, the Portuguese-Portuguese duo from Action Express Racing in the No. 5 Corvette DP, it is the grip that could play a role in the race. “The circuit is not that different. We will have more grip. Last year, cars were sliding everywhere. This time more interesting, not only for us drivers, but also for the spectators. There will be more overtaking. » explains the Brazilian Fittipaldi.

“The organizers have done an excellent job resurfacing the circuit,
says Barbosa. We will have better grip. The overtaking and braking zones have not fundamentally changed. It will be a great race. »

The Brickyard Grand Prix will take place on Friday and will feature the four categories represented in USC: Prototypes, LM PC, GTLM and GTD.
