USC – Half of the peloton ready to fight

After the first rounds of 2014, including the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring, the USC peloton will be reduced this weekend in Michigan. The Belle Isle event will only welcome Prototypes and GTDs, with the usual GTLM category entrants many of them lined up for the Test Day of the 24 Hours of Le Mans which will take place on Sunday in Sarthe.

The field will nonetheless remain attractive with 11 Prototypes and 21 GTDs registered which will also run in parallel with theIndyCar like during the Long Beach round. After its victory at Laguna Seca, Extreme Speed Motorsports and its HPD ARX-03b LM P2 will want to try to double the stakes, on a track which will undoubtedly be a little less favorable to them. But the Corvette DPs, notably that of Action Express Racing for Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi or the Riley DPs of Ganassi, will be in the running for victory after an hour and a half of racing. In GTD, the Flying Lizard Audi R8 LMS were the strongest at Laguna Seca, but were beaten to the wire by the Turner Motorsport BMW Z4. Revenge expected in Michigan in a match which will still be refereed by Ferrari et Porsche.
