USCC – Alexander Rossi on the DeltaWing at Daytona

DeltaWing Racing Cars has revealed its full crew for the 24 Hours of Daytona held on January 25 and 26. Britons Katherine Legge and Andy Meyrick will be joined by Alexander Red which made its debut in Endurance last June at 24 Hours of Le Mans with Greaves Motorsport under the colors of Caterham where he played the role of reserve driver in the team F1. “The 24 Hours of Daytona is an important motorsport event and I am honored to drive for Don Panoz and its DeltaWing project. It's a bit surreal to work with Panoz because I evolved in karting by following his rich career in American motorsport and the cars he built. I'm more of a beginner in endurance racing but I'm looking forward to this new challenge with Daytona,” commented the 22-year-old American.

The crew will still be quite inexperienced at the 24 Hours of Daytona since Andy Meyrick will also compete in the event for the first time. Katherine Legge started the race in 2007 driving a Daytona Prototype. The British nevertheless trained during tests carried out last month with the DeltaWing. “We had good testing last month and the car seems competitive on this circuit,” added the feminine touch to the team. “Andy and I are thrilled to be working with Alexander. It will be a good thing to have his reactions as I am sure it was the same with me last May. » The Welshman shares his teammate’s sentiment. “He is one of the pilots of car the most promising on the planet. We had good times in November, being very consistent, even though it was a first for us in banking. The Roar (before the 24 Hours) will give the three of us the chance to work together and continue to learn with the Continental tires, while ensuring the level of reliability and performance of the car. »
