USCC – Briscoe, new reinforcement for Corvette Racing

New championship and new mount for Corvette Racing. The C7.R therefore takes over from the former C6.R, champion in 2013 in the GT category of the ALMS. The team also revealed its driver line-up. There will be eight in total to take part in twelve races in 2014. The duo Antonio Garcia – Jan Magnussen, reigning champion in GT ALMS last year, is renewed. The other full-time duo for this season will be Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner, former champions in 2012 and who finished 3rd last year in the United States.

Alongside these two crews, other drivers will join the team for various endurance rounds in 2014, starting with the 24 Hours of Daytona (January 25-26), the inaugural round of the season. Robin Liddell and Ryan Briscoe, who has just signed with Ganassi in IndyCar, will be entered in Florida, just like at the 12 Hours of Sebring (March 12-15) in the GT Le Mans category. Finally, Richard Westbrook and Jordan Taylor will participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 14-15) in GTE Pro. All of these drivers have extensive experience with Chevy. Westbrook and Taylor notably took part in four and three double clock rounds respectively in Sarthe.

“The C7.R will debut with a roster of drivers who bring experience and team spirit, which can help Corvette Racing succeed in the world’s toughest endurance events.”
explains Jim Campbell, Chevrolet US Performance Vehicles and Motorsports vice president. “We think this team will perform extremely well” adds Mark Kent, director of Chevrolet Racing. “This is a program with continuity. This is the key to success in motorsport. We also welcome talents like Ryan Briscoe and Robin Liddell who join the Corvette Racing program for the first two races of an exciting new chapter in our auto racing history.”

The first laps of the C7.R in USCC will take place during the ROAR Before the 24 tests, from January 3 to 5 at Daytona.
