USCC / NAEC – Sébastien Bourdais expects to experience “a great season”

Sébastien Bourdais is preparing for a busy but interesting 2014 season. Because if his career IndyCar Series recently took a turn (he joined the ranks of KVSH Racing), the Manceau will also make a few appearances in USCC. Three to be more precise, namely the 24 Hours of Daytona (January 25-26), the 12 Hours of Sebring (March 15) and the Petit Le Mans (October 4), three events which, with the 6 Hours of Watkins-Glen, constitute the NAEC (North American Endurance Championship). If he will not be there during the latter, it is because a round of the IndyCar Series will take place on the same weekend.

“After signing a two-year contract in IndyCar with KVSH, which will be my main program, my ambition was to participate in these three Endurance events being on the calendar of the United SportsCar Championship, explains the four-time Champ Car champion. When this opportunity to race a Daytona Prototype with Chevrolet presented itself, thanks to Action Express, I was immediately excited. They have a great group of people and have a lot of experience in the discipline. I'm truly honored to join them and I'm looking forward to a great season. »

On these occasions, Sébastien Bourdais will share the wheel with the Portuguese Joao Barbosa and the Brazilian Christian Fittipladi, who will contest the entire championship. “We are delighted that Sébastien will join us for endurance races next season, emphasizes Bob Johnson, owner of Action Express Racing. We were competitive during the long events last year, but for the championship, we were a little tight. And “being close” isn’t enough for this team. We are determined to improve on last year. The fact that Sébastien is joining us for these Endurance events only consolidates our efforts. »

The start of the collaboration went rather well, the 34-year-old Habs having set the best time last Sunday on the second and final day of the Sebring tests (see here). Sébastien Bourdais is offered the opportunity to add his name to the list of winners of the 12 Hours of Sebring (a race he won in GT2 in 2006 with Panoz), the Petit Le Mans and the 24 Hours of Daytona, an event which has already seen triumph, in 2010, the Action Express Racing.
