USCC – Sam Bird with Starworks Motorsport

Sam Bird will compete in several USCC events with Starworks Motorsport next year. The 26-year-old Briton highlighted himself by finishing runner-up in the GP2 Series after a duel with Fabio Leimer. The former test pilot of Mercedes AMG F1 is expected to take the wheel of one of the two FLM09s entered by the team at the 24 Hours of Daytona (January 25 and 26), the 12 Hours of Sebring (March 15) and Petit Le Mans (October 4). However, Sam Bird could potentially find himself in a Riley Daytona Prototype for the entire season.

“We follow the GP2 Series and the young driver tests in F1 and I was stunned to learn that Sam was available and that he was looking for a drive in North America”, commented Peter Baron, the owner of Starworks Motorsport, on Racer. “We have had success in hiring pilots from the car (like Sébastien Bourdais ou Brendon Hartley). I'm looking forward to working with Sam who has a lot of experience. We will provide more information once we have revealed our full crew. »
