After its victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona, the team Meyer Shank Racing will travel to the 12 Hours of Sebring, second round of the 2022 season of theIMSA, with a new pilot in his crew. Stoffel Vandoorne will therefore be aligned with the two usual starters in long distance races, Tom Blomqvist and Oliver Jarvis. For his debut in IMSA, the Belgian driver will therefore be at the wheel of the No. 05 Acura ARX-60. The former pilot of Formula 1 is used to endurance races since he participated in the World Championship ofEndurance in 2021 with Jota. Once expected to join WRT alongside his ex-teammate Sean Gelael in the British team, the Belgian ultimately did not find a seat for a new full-time season in Endurance.
For Sebring, Stroffel Vandoorne replaces Helio Castroneves, held by the Texas sleeve in IndyCar the same weekend with this same team. “ I'm really looking forward to joining Meyer Shank Racing for the 12 Hours of Sebring, Vandoorne said. For me, it will be my first time racing at Sebring, and my first time racing in IMSA. I can't wait to start because the races in the United States are of a high level. I'm lucky to join the team that just won the 24 Hours of Daytona, it will be a great experience. » He will find his teammate in WEC in 2021, Tom Blomqvist. simon pagenaud, also a winner at Daytona with Mike Shank's team, was not scheduled for this second round of the season and will also be in Texas for the IndyCar.
