An uneventful start for the 47 cars entered in this second round Road to Le Mans of the weekend in front of already packed stands.
Torsten Kratz completed the first lap in the lead at the wheel of the Duqueine of Team WTM Racing ahead of Freddie Hunt in the Ligier of Reiter Engineering. In GT, Arnold Robin resumed his march forward on the Team WRT Audi and after 2 laps opened up a gap of 9 seconds on the Honda of Kristian Poulsen. Unfortunately for Robin, he received a penalty for a stolen start a lap later and had to perform a Drive Through.
A Slow Zone was then deployed following Jonathan Brossard's violent exit before Tertre Rouge. Major damage to the car, but fortunately the driver was unhurt.
Good opportunity to start the regulatory pit stops. Two new incidents on track led to the entry of the Safety Car and the regrouping of the peloton.
The race was then restarted for 6 minutes with Duncan Tappy in control under pressure from Siljehaug and Dillmann who exchanged second place at the start of the last lap.
In GT, Maxime Robin and Kasper H. Jensen crossed the Hunaudières straight door to door to compete for victory.
Cool Racing won this second round thanks to a perfectly controlled second part of the race from Tappy. With two podiums, including a victory, Dillmann and his teammate Alexander Mattschull can leave Sarthe with the feeling of accomplishment.
In GT, GMB Motorsport offers victory to Honda while Arnold and Maxime Robin can console themselves with a second second place in as many races.
