10 a.m.: No. 7 left behind by the leaders

Alexander Wurz occupied third place at the wheel of the #908 7 and was less than a minute behind the race lead occupied by Benoît Tréluyer in the #2 Audi. But the Austrian was trapped on the Indianapolis Corner, hitting the tire wall after understeering.

Once released by the marshals, Alexander Wurz was able to return to the pits to have the 908 repaired, the entire right front of which was damaged. He leaves third place to the No. 908 8 of Stéphane Sarrazin, who is more than a lap behind after receiving a one-minute penalty following a mechanic's forgetting to protect him.

simon pagenaud, driver of the 908 n°9, is now the only direct threat to Benoît Tréluyer. The Frenchman was around thirty seconds behind the #2 Audi, before the R18 returned to the pits for its 24th stop.

No notable changes in other categories at this time. The #41 Zytek still leads the LMP2s ahead of the #26 Signatech-Nissan. There Ferrari #51 is still first in the GTE Pro ahead of the #73 Corvette. Another Corvette, the No. 50 from Larbre Compétition, remains at the head of the GTE Am which only has four cars still entered.
