12h of Sebring: Peugeot returns to battle

La nouvelle Peugeot 908 will make its first race in the United States during the 12 Hours of Sebring on March 19. The French team intends to start its second season in ILMC with a victory, even if the priority remains the development of the car.

“Our priority objective in the United States is to gain experience” underlines Bruno Famin, technical director of Peugeot Sport. “The 908 is a 100% new car and like any new model, you have to work and drive it to, among other things, make it reliable. We therefore follow our specifications, with the wish to complete these 12 hours in order to accumulate kilometers and therefore valuable information. On the other hand, we need to learn our car. »

Author of a double last year, the Peugeot Sport crews know the specificities and pitfalls of the American circuit well.

“It’s an atypical round, where there’s always a lot going on” warns Olivier Quesnel, director of Peugeot Sport. ?It?s an American-style race with many neutralizations, regulations different from those of Le Mans in particular in terms of pit stops. Everything could change at any moment. It is the June victory that we are aiming for above all. But of course, if we don't have any particular problems at Sebring of a sporting or technical nature, the result will follow?

The number 7 Peugeot will be driven by the 2010 winners, Alexander Wurz, Marc Gené and Anthony Davidson, while the number 8 will be entrusted to Frank Montagny, Stéphane Sarrazin and Pedro Lamy.
