1812km from Qatar – Aston Martin, victory can wait

The long-awaited debut of the Valkyrie turned sour with the retirement of the n°007 and the 23 laps of delay of the n°009 at the finish at the end of a race marked by too many problems. But should we have expected anything else for this debut?

What will history remember about the first performance of the Aston Martin Valkyrie, on the occasion of the second edition of the 1812 km of Qatar? The magical sound of its atmospheric V12 which will make it the darling of fans at 24 Hours of Le Mans and elsewhere. That's for sure. On the sporting level, it's unfortunately much less glorious, so much so that one can wonder: is it so serious? Because the Gaydon prototype may be named after warriors from Norse mythology, but it was without the proper weapons to do battle that it showed up on the Losail circuit. It was necessary to wait without denigrating because I love this car but they are not yet as comfortable as the majority of brands already road in Hypercar.
