24 H: Lieb recognizes BMW’s superiority

At the end of the tests which precede the 24 Hours of Le Mans, BMW seems to have the best pace. The #55 of Farfus-Müller-Werner is on pole in the GTE Pro category, with the #56 of Priaulx-Müller-Hand in third place. The German manufacturer once again posted good times in this morning's warm-up, occupying second and third positions behind the Ferrari 458 Italia n°51 from AF Corse.

Conversely, the Porsche 997 GT3 RSR seems a bit behind the times. The first 911 on the starting grid is the No. 77 of Team Felbermayr-Proton. Marc Lieb, driver who achieved the best time in the qualifying sessions for the German team, confirms the feeling of superiority of the BMWs.

“They have more power and more support”, explains the winner of the GT2 category at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2010. “The organizers still need to make efforts on equivalences. They gave us about 1,5 seconds per lap Thursday evening. We did not expect such a pace from them. »

The teammate of Richard Lietz and Wolf Henzler is banking on the reliability of the Porsche to hope to repeat his feat from last year. “We have to do the same thing as in 2010, do regular runs, to finish on the podium. Ferrari is still strong. They should be fast too, it will depend on the reliability of the new 458.”
