24 hours: Melo aims for victory in GTE Pro

Winner of the GT2 category at 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2009, Jaime Melo hopes to repeat his feat this year at the wheel of the Ferrari 458 Italia from Luxury Racing. The Brazilian, who will share the wheel with Stéphane Ortelli and Frédéric Makowiecki, expects a very competitive race where all the crews will be contenders for victory.

“I think everyone has the necessary equipment to have a chance of winning”, comments Jaime Melo. “Our car has great potential. We haven't had time to simulate a 24-hour race and we hope everything goes well. »

The Brazilian acknowledges that BMW's performance is impressive, but he is banking on the Ferrari's reliability. “The BMWs have very good pace, but we have a reliable car. The 458 is evolving in the right direction, particularly in terms of aerodynamics. We learn something every race. »

Jaime Melo will be responsible for starting the 79th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
