24 Hours of Le Mans – WeatherTech Racing moves to GTE Pro

New change on the entry list for 24 Hours of Le Mans (September 19-20). Initially entered in the GTE Am category, the American team WeatherTech Racing requested to change category, and therefore to move to GTE Pro.

« We made this decision for various reasons, explained boss-pilot Cooper MacNeil. We were in discussions with several very interesting Bronze drivers, but the Covid-19 pandemic and border restrictions did not allow us to be 100% certain that they would be able to join Le Mans in September. Jeff and Toni are well known to the team and we have all ridden together in the past. The best solution for us to shine, given the shortened schedule proposed, is to race with drivers who have already made common cause. »

Jeff and Toni are Jeff Segal and Toni Vilander, both credited with class victories at Le Mans. One in GTE Am (2016) for the American and two in GTE Pro (2012 and 2014) for the Finn.

The change of class of Ferrari 488 GTE Evo n°63 brings the contingent of entrants in GTE Pro to eight.
