Audi unveiled its plans for 2013 on Wednesday, December 19, in its stronghold of Ingolstadt, Germany. And according to Wolfgang Dürheimer, member of technical development at Audi AG, the objective will be to continue to achieve success next year: “Success in motorsport is part of our DNA”. This is what is said.

Thus, in addition to the two R18 e-tron quattros from Team Joest which will race the entire championship, a third hybrid Audi will strengthen the ranks during the 90th edition of the Sarthe event and at Spa-Francorchamps, a race counting for the WEC. The brand with the four rings also announces that, from the outside, the 18 version R-2013 e-tron quattro will be very similar to those used this year, but that numerous technical developments will be made under their carbon fiber hulls.

Still for the WEC and Le Mans, the drivers entered will remain the current world champions Marcel Fässler (Switzerland), André Lotterer (Germany) and Benoît Tréluyer (France). Lucas di Grassi (Brazil), Loïc duval (France), Marc Gené (Spain), Oliver Jarvis (Great Britain), Allan McNish (Scotland) as well as Le Mans victory record holder Tom Kristensen (Denmark) will complete the line-up.

Alongside all this, Audi Sport has announced that they are actively working on their new car for 2014, which will have to meet the new regulations for the LMP1 category.
