24 Hours – Julien Canal’s good tips

“Let’s move on to the track now. For me, as a driver, I admit that the most special place is the straight of the Hunaudieres. I know that, for spectators, it's not super accessible, but for me, it's a portion that I take almost every day to go to work. And there, we take them racing at more than 300 km/h!

When I was very young, I liked to go and stand at the end of this straight line, Mulsanne. We hear cars arriving from afar, without even seeing them. They arrive very quickly before a strong and sudden deceleration: the brake discs are red and clearly visible when night arrives. What is very appreciable for the public is that we can see the prototypes at less than 100 km/h. Afterwards there is Arnage, this is the other place where you can see the cars idling… but also sometimes in difficulty, because there is not much grip here.

Last nerve center, for me, is the chicane Dunlop. A very nice place for spectators who see the cars arriving at full speed, since they are at full speed since the corner of the Connection. When braking to approach the chicane, there is often action, even if the cars are in first or second. »
