24 Hours – A trip to the museum?

Last winter, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest became the exclusive owner of the Musée des 24 Hours of Le Mans after the buyout from the Departmental Council. Alongside the ACO's permanent collections, which are presented through a scenography presenting more than 120 vehicles, visitors can admire a temporary exhibition dedicated to Formula 1 : “Le Mans 67: an Exceptional Grand Prix”.

Founder of the Bugatti circuit in 1965 and promoter of the only French Grand Prix contested in Sarthe 50 years ago, the ACO devotes a 300m² space to retrace the victory of the Brabham Repco BT24 driven by Sir Jack Brabham. Guy Ligier was the only Frenchman involved. In parallel with the F1 race, the 20 spectators present were able to witness the victory in F3 by Henri Pescarolo who would later become a Le Mans legend. The Matra which took him to the title that year is also on display during this retrospective.

You can visit this exhibition for free at the 24 Hours museum if you have a General Enclosure ticket.

Find more information in the practical guide to the 24 Hours of Le Mans and in the Official Program available at Le Mans.
