24 Hours of Le Mans – H+16: the No. 8 Toyota takes back the lead

The order of Toyota evolved again 24 Hours of Le Mans. Kazuki Nakajima took back control of the No. 8 Toyota against his compatriot's No. 7 Kamui Kobayashi before passing the wheel to his teammate Sébastien Buemi. The Swiss now has around 20 seconds ahead of the sister car. The #3 Rebellion driven by Thomas Laurent still completes the provisional podium ahead of André Lotterer’s sister car.

No change, however, on the LM P2 side. The No. 07 Oreca 26 of G-Drive Racing driven by Andréa Pizzitola retains the lead in the category ahead of the Ligier JS P217 of Panis Barthez Competition driven by Julien Canal, while theAlpine A470 of Nicolas lapierre completes the top three in the category.

The Porsche dominate the GTE Pro with the #911 92 RSR of Kévin Estre which is more than two minutes ahead of the #91 sister car now entrusted to Richard Lietz. The Ford GTs of Joey Hand and Tony Kanaan complete the leading quartet.

While the No. 8 BMW M82 GTE was eighth in the class, Alexander Sims spun in the Porsche Corners and hit the rear wall. The Briton was able to reach the pits, but the car was returned to the garage for repairs and continued to fall in the standings.

The GTE Am was marked by the track exit of the Ferrari 488 GTE JMW Motorsport driven by Jeff Segal at Mulsanne while it was in the leading trio of the category still dominated by the No. 77 Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche in which Matt Campbell is racing.
