24 Hours of Le Mans – Pierre Kaffer joins Risi Competizione

Holders for the year in IMSA in the GTLM category, Giancarlo Fisichella and Toni Vilander will be able to count on the reinforcement of Pierre Kaffer Asked 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 17-18) in GTE Pro. Kaffer will succeed the Italian Matteo Malucelli, seen in 2016 on the Ferrari 488 GTE.

The German driver is no stranger to Risi Competizione having defended his colors in IMSA in 2014 and 2015 and earlier in the 2000s, including a victory in GT2 at Le Mans in 2009 with Jaime Melo and Mika Salo.

Pierre Kaffer's last appearance in GT in Sarthe dates back to 2014 with a Ferrari 458 Italia AF Corse alongside Davide Rigon and Olivier Beretta. Since 2015, the native of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler has been racing in LM P1 with ByKolles Racing and the CLM P1/01.

“I am very comfortable with the team and I know all the people so it will be very pleasant to come back with my old team,” admits Pierre Kaffer. I'm looking forward to this. »

Risi Competizione was the fiercest threat of the official Ford GTs last year, narrowly failing against the blue oval car driven by Sébastien Bourdais, Joey Hand and Dirk Müller.
