24 Hours of Le Mans – Pipo Derani confirmed at Risi Competizione

Risi Competition confirmed the presence of the Brazilian Beanie Derani in its ranks for the 2019 edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 15-16).

The resident of Action Express Racing in IMSA will compete in its fifth 24 Hours in Sarthe, the third in a row in GTE. The Paulist had evolved with Ford Chip Ganassi Racing in 2017 (2nd in the GTE Pro category) and AF Corse in 2018, following two participations in LM P2 in 2015 and 2016.

“I am extremely happy to return to Le Mans in GTE Pro, the most exciting and difficult category at Le Mans and in WEC, says Derani. It's a fantastic opportunity for me to be back behind the wheel of a Ferrari.

I am very happy to be one of the spearheads and to drive for Risi, a superb team which has shown the potential of Ferrari in the United States, but also at Le Mans.

Hopefully we can move up a place from their 2016 result with their second place. With my experience at Le Mans, I can help pave the way for a great result. »

If Pierre Kaffer and Stéphane Ortelli had been listed by the ACO during the presentation of the selected teams for the 87th edition of the double clock tower, these should ultimately be, and as we indicate in issue 2210 of AUTOhebdo this week, the Briton Oliver Jarvis and the Frenchman Jules Gounon who will support Derani.

The latter will also have the opportunity to add the Le Mans event, having already triumphed overall at Daytona and at Sebring in IMSA.
