37 cars for the 8 Hours of Bahrain, Glickenhaus absent from the final

The WEC has revealed the provisional list of participants for the 8 Hours of Bahrain, the final of the 2022 championship, with 37 cars entered.

There are therefore 37 cars which will participate in the finale of the 2022 WEC season, the 8 Hours of Bahrain, on November 12. In the Hypercar category, both Toyota GR010 hybrids and both Peugeot 9X8 will be there, just like theAlpine A480 – Gibson. Glickenhaus, already absent from the 6 Hours of Fuji, will also skip the Bahrain round. There Porsche 963, a time awaited, will not be there either. On the Peugeot side, James Rossiter is confirmed in the No. 94 despite the Nico Müller rumor.

As for LM P2, 12 cars are expected in Sakhir, with the return of the #07 Oreca 44 – Gibson from ARC Bratislava in which only Miroslav Konopka is confirmed. René Rast and Nico Müller will return to the No. 31 WRT and the No. 10 Vector Sport after the clash of dates with the round of DTM at Spa-Francorchamps, as well as Nick Cassidy in LMGTE Am, in the #54 AF Corse.

Alpine and Toyota tied

In the championship, the crews of theAlpine (Andre Negro, Nicolas lapierre, Matthieu Vaxiviere) and the Toyota n°8 (Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley, Ryo Hirakama) will enter the 8 Hours of Bahrain tied on points in the Hypercar category for this final round of the season which will decide the 2022 title.

The No. 38 JOTA (Antonio Felix da Costa, Roberto Gonzalez, Will Stevens) will start as the big favorite for the title with a 28-unit lead over Josh Pierson and Oliver Jarvis in the No. 23 United Autosports. 

In LMGTE Pro, AF Corse took a big step towards retaining its crown after the victory of the #51 of Alessandro Pier Guidi and James Calado at Fuji. The duo is 11 units ahead of the No. 92 Porsche, that of Kévin Estre and Michael Christensen. The clash is much closer in the Manufacturers' standings with only one point between the two, to the advantage of the Italian manufacturer. 

Finally, in the LMGTE Am category, Ben Keating and Marco Sørensen increased their lead over David Pittard, Nicki Thiim and Paul Dalla Lana to twenty points after their victory at the foot of the famous Japanese volcano.
