6 Hours of Monza – EL1: First mixed session for Peugeot

The Peugeot 9X8 completed its first competitive laps during Free Practice 1 of the 6 Hours of Monza. While the No. 93 ranked third, the No. 94 drove little.

6 Hours of Monza – EL1: First mixed session for Peugeot

The first Free Practice session for the 6 Hours of Monza held this Friday was the long-awaited moment of the first laps of the wheel of the Peugeot 9X8 in official session. For this first hour and a half of competitive driving, the French manufacturer ranked third with the No. 93 of Paul di Resta, Mikkel Jensen and Jean-Éric Vergne. The Briton set the best time at the wheel of the Hypercar in 1:38.802. The second Peugeot is much further behind in the standings, in 20th place overall with a time of 1:41.522 signed Loïc duval. The No. 94 completed only 12 laps, compared to 40 for its sister car.

The best lap of the session was set by Frenchman Romain Dumas at the wheel of the Glickenhaus #708 in its new blue livery in 1:37.984. The Frenchman was 0.618 seconds ahead of the Brazilian Andre Negro (Alpine Elf Endurance Team). Les Toyota ont pris les quatrièmes et cinquièmes places avec la n°8 devant la n°7.

AF Corse dominated the LM P2 category with Alessio Rovera. The Italian moved to the top of the timesheet with a time of 1:39.973. Austrian Ferdinand Habsburg set the second time in the class at 0.367 seconds in the No. 41 Realteam by WRT. Esteban Gutiérrez completed the podium with the No. 34 Inter Europol Competiion, 0.383 seconds behind.

Le futur pilote Hypercar de Porsche, Kevin Estre, a dominé les LMGTE Pro avec n°92 du constructeur allemand. Le Français a établi la référence de sa catégorie en 1:47.273. Antonio Fuoco s’est positionné à la deuxième place à 0.324 seconde, devant Nick Tandy sur la Corvette n°64 à 0.429 seconde.

In LMGTE Am, Ben Barnicoat was the fastest in 1:48.389. The Briton beat his compatriot Benjamin Barker (GR Racing) by 0.392 and the Dane Mikkel Pedersen (Team Project 1) by 0.471 seconds for a Porsche hat-trick.
